When I talked to this mama after their in-home Lifestyle Session, she thanked me for handling their “little circus” so well. In my eyes, it was anything but that – it was a perfect opportunity to capture what life was like for them at that point in time. These unscripted moments are what make a Lifestyle Session what it’s meant to be. We go with what might be the chaotic and unpredictable events, and we welcome the unplanned and unexpected. This family handled it so well…After all, that’s when the magic happens.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a sucker for the posed, everybody-look-at-the-camera shots every now and then, but these candid moments are what make me and the families I photograph the happiest.

There was a short time that I got to spend with Big Brother Max outside while Mom and Dad were tending to Baby Hazel. I asked him, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” He looked at me straight in the eyes and answered without hesitation, “I want to be just like my daddy and play baseball…”
So the rest of the night, we spent our time outside while they played ball together as a family until the sun began to set.
And that is how I continued to capture this beautiful season of their lives, unscripted.
